Circulation Services in the library refer to the processes and policies related to borrowing and returning materials from the library's collection. Here are some key points about circulation services:
- Borrowing of Materials: The library offers access to its collection of materials for borrowing. This includes books, journals, multimedia items, and other resources that are part of the circulating collections. Users can borrow these items for a specific period.
- Reservation and Recall Requests: Users can place reservation requests on items that are already borrowed by others. If a reserved item is returned, the library notifies the user who made the reservation, and they can borrow it. Recall requests may be made when another user needs a borrowed item urgently, and the current borrower is asked to return it sooner than the original due date.
- Assistance in Locating Items: Circulation staff assists users in locating items within the library, especially in the stack area where books and other materials are stored.
- Circulation Policies: The borrowing facilities are generally available to faculty, researchers, and students of the Institute. Specific rules and policies govern the borrowing privileges, loan periods, and number of items that can be borrowed at a time.
- Membership Enrollment: To avail borrowing privileges and other services, faculty members and students are required to enroll as library members by filling out a membership form available at the library circulation desk.
- College Identity Card Requirement: Users must present their College Identity Cards for both borrowing and returning reading materials. This card serves as identification and helps in managing the circulation process efficiently.
