Undergraduate
On completion of the B.Sc.programme in Zoology,the students will be able to:

Classify, identify and list out common animals (invertebrates, vertebrates)
- Analyze the impact of the environment on the survival and well-being of organisms.
- Understand various genetic abnormalities
- Describe the role and impact of different environmental conservation programmes
- Summarize the importance of genetic engineering [cell culture, transgenic animals,
antibiotics, engineered microbes, biodiesel, bio-plastics, biopesticides]
- Apply tools of information technology for all activities related to Zoology
- Develop self-employment skills such as vermitechnology, bee keeping, sericulture,
aquarium fish keeping.
- Evaluate various potential risk factors to health of humans
- Manage harmful and beneficial animals
Postgraduate
On completion of the M.Sc. programme in Zoology the students will be able to:
- Describe the biochemistry of bio-molecules, its metabolism and functions
- Understand ultra-structure and functions of various cellular organelles including cancerous
cells and cell signaling.
- Demonstrate parametric and non-parametric statistics and their biological applications
- Summarize ecosystem, bio-resources and their management, role of GMOs in biodegradation
of xenobiotic compounds.
- Summarize classical and modern genetics, genetic disorders, genetic counseling, tools and
applications of genetic engineering and biotechnology
- Describe structure and functions of various organ systems and the physiology of animals and
human beings.
- Comprehend the concepts of ecosystem and to understand the impact of environment and
their management strategies.
- Describe fundamentals of the developmental process of various organisms.
- Trace the origin of life and evolution, evolutionary processes, major trends of evolution and
future of man.
